Give me your name is a web-series that I entirely directed for Le Maréchal cheese.
They really trusted me and gave me total freedom. Jean-Michel Rapin, founder of the cheese brand, who’s also passionate by painting, is actually my oncle. So we decided that I could be his character.
This allowed me to use the story of our family and the old stuff I found in cellars to create everything. It took me a week to create the film set. I always saw and admired his paintings in my grandmother’s house and I thought that it could give a great side of storytelling. So I started to write the story.
It’s the story of a young man passionate by art and painting but who’s confronting his family that doesn’t understand him. He meets a mysterious girl that make him pass tests. These tests are made to make him grow. It is an internal fight.
But who is this girl? And where does she come from?
Big thanks to Camille Thiébaud, a really good friend and very talented actress, who accepted this role and played way better than I did!
The theme is: “Do we need to do what we WANT or what we HAVE TO?”.
I like fictions because you can really make characters asking deep questions that may have a resonance.
Salut.
